It may not seem like it, but Hollywood is actually a very small town. If actors don’t share an agent, manager, or stylist, they come up against each other in auditions and on the red carpet. And when they’re just starting out, most actors and actresses don’t exactly have the bank accounts for a five-bedroom spread on Mulholland Drive. That’s how we end up with several future famous faces shacking up together in their younger years. Here’s a look at some big names who split the rent back in the day:

Connie Britton and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand

Not everyone can say they used to room with a former presidential hopeful, but beloved actress Connie Britton can. The acclaimed star of “Friday Night Lights” and “Nashville” actually roomed with Gillibrand one summer while the duo was studying abroad in Beijing, China, as Dartmouth undergrads. Gillibrand told HuffPost Live they both got food poisoning so badly one night that they were taken to the hospital on the back of a bike. When the arrived, the staff had them drink a liquid they said was toad venom. Ah, international travel.

Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling

Okay, so any fan of the 90’s revamp of “The Mickey Mouse Club” could conjure up this memory, but it’s still an important one to mention. Back when Gosling and Timberlake were on the Disney program alongside Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Keri Russell, Gosling actually moved in with Timberlake and his mother, Lynn. Gosling’s mom had to return to their native Canada for work, but he stayed back to work on the show. The actor and singer didn’t remain the tightest friends as they skyrocketed to stardom, but we did get to see them interact at the 2017 Oscars. At least we’ll always have that. Until then, we’ll just have to keep rewatching this video of them selling a love ballad in matching oversized jumpsuits.

Penn Badgley and Milo Ventimiglia

It’s hard to imagine that one apartment could hold two brooding souls like these, but it’s true: “You” star Penn Badgley once roomed with “This is Us” actor Milo Ventimiglia, back when Penn was just 18 and starring on “Gossip Girl.” But the 10-year age difference between the two did come in handy for Penn; he told the now-folded Bullett magazine he used Milo’s ID to get into bars since he was underage.

Ryan Seacrest and Jensen Ackles

Before he made millions hosting “American Idol”, sitting next to Kelly Ripa on TV every momrning, and producing the Kardashians, Ryan Seacrest was a radio host living with “Days of our Lives” star Jensen Ackles and a bevy of other roommates. Ackles, who went on to stardom on the CW’s “Supernatural,” reunited with his former roomie on “LIVE with Kelly and Ryan” just a couple years ago. He shared an old photo of the two when they hosted a party together.

“It was a long time ago my friend,” Jensen shared. “You were on the radio. You were doing a morning show. I was doing a soap opera. We were the E list.”

Laura Dern and Marianne Williamson

Connie Britton isn’t the only celeb who lived with a presidential hopeful! Long before Laura Dern became a human GIF machine as power mom Renata Klein on “Big Little Lies,” she was just an aspiring actress looking for a place to live. She moved in with self-help guru/aspiring leader of the free world Marianne Williamson, who was starting a non-profit called Project Angel Food to help feed people with H.I.V./AIDS. At just 17 years old, Dern soon took off for college at UCLA, but didn’t last all that long there, either. According to a profile in the , Dern ditched college after two days to film Blue Velvet.

Anthony Weiner and Jon Stewart

Think of Anthony Weiner like Bevers on “Broad City.” He’s not the actual roommate, but he’s just always there. That was the case for former “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart, who lived with Weiner’s then-girlfriend after college in an apartment in New York’s SoHo area, Weiner told .

“I was living there more or less because I was bumming off of my girlfriend,” he said. “Technically speaking, I was living in my mom’s house.”

Channing Tatum and Jax Taylor(?)

This claim of magical roommate-dom came from Jax himself, who is known by “Vanderpump Rules” devotees for lying like a rug. But back in 2013, Jax told Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live” that he actually did share a place with Tatum before the “Magic Mike” actor hit it big. However, in a recent episode of “Vanderpump Rules,” Tom Sandoval may have de-bunked this idea, mentioning the claim in a laundry list of Jax lies like “he would say that his parents owned 47 percent of CVS” and “he said he was a virgin.” The point is, this claim may be unprovable until we get Channing himself to weigh in (which may never happen.)
