The first full week of November is a busy one for anyone with a streaming login, a pair of headphones or a game console. There’s a long-awaited series about Muhammad Ali, a remake of one of the most beloved video games ever made, a Venice prize-winner arriving on Netflix and new albums from Kings of Leon, Skepta and Rex Orange County.

Here are the highlights for November 2 to 8, based on picks from The Associated Press’ entertainment journalists, published by WTOP, along with Prime Video’s own November lineup.

The big series: ‘The Greatest’

“The Greatest” is the first authorized scripted series about Muhammad Ali. Jaalen Best plays the boxing legend, with Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, Kai Parham and Michael Ealy in the cast. Michael B. Jordan and Jay-Z are among the executive producers, and the show was created by Ben Watkins. All eight episodes arrive on Prime Video on Wednesday, November 4, so this one is built for a weekend binge.

More new series

  1. “The Remarried Empress” (Disney+ and Hulu, from Wednesday): based on a hit Korean webtoon with nearly 3 billion views. Shin Min-a stars as Empress Navier, whose husband (Ju Ji-hoon) brings home a runaway concubine he plans to marry. Navier agrees to a divorce if she can remarry too. Four episodes debut Wednesday, with two more weekly through November.
  2. “Black Doves” Season 2 (Netflix, November 5): Keira Knightley returns as Helen Webb, now the wife of Britain’s new prime minister and still a spy. When her handler vanishes, she teams up again with Ben Whishaw’s assassin, Sam Young.
  3. “It Gets Worse” (Paramount+, November 6): a comedy about three friends facing eviction, dead-end jobs and worsening mental health, created by and starring Leo Reich, with guest appearances from Andrew Scott and Lena Dunham. All episodes drop at once.

Movies to stream

The highest-profile film of the week is “Possible Love” from South Korean director Lee Chang-dong, best known for “Burning.” It won the grand jury prize at the Venice Film Festival and follows two couples, one wealthy and one not, brought together by a documentary. It arrives on Netflix on November 6.

Also coming:

  • “Making Marie Antoinette” (Mubi, November 6), a behind-the-scenes documentary about Sofia Coppola’s film.
  • “The Uprising” (Peacock, November 6), Paul Greengrass’s medieval drama starring Andrew Garfield as a farmer leading a peasants’ revolt. The AP’s Mark Kennedy was not a fan, writing that it “mixes fact and fiction in such an anachronistic, uncomfortable way” that it loses its power.
  • “Silver Screamers” (BloodStream, November 6), a charming documentary about senior citizens making an amateur horror short.

New music on Friday

Kings of Leon’s new album, “O My Beloved,” marks a stripped-down turn. Frontman Caleb Followill told the AP that after breaking his foot playing with his kids, he picked up an acoustic guitar during recovery, and the band discarded the electric songs they had been working on in favour of quieter tunes about gratitude and family.

Grime star Skepta releases “The Fork and Knife,” his first solo full-length album in seven years, exploring life as a Brit and the son of Nigerian immigrants. Rex Orange County returns with “Dream Fatigue,” his sixth studio album, featuring collaborators including Turnstile’s Brendan Yates and Dev Hynes.

Games: Hyrule calls again

The headline release for gamers is the remake of “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time,” arriving Thursday, November 5. Nintendo has added overhauled graphics, enhanced controls, full voice acting and expanded cutscenes. On Switch 2, the Joy-Con supports motion controls for some weapons, and you can play the ocarina’s melodies by humming into the device.

Fans of “Disco Elysium” should also note “Zero Parades for Dead Spies,” the follow-up from British studio ZA/UM, which comes to Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on Tuesday, November 3, with an enhanced director’s cut for PC players.

How to plan your week

If you only have time for one thing, the Ali series is the event release. Gamers with a Switch 2 will want to clear Thursday night, and music fans have a strong Friday ahead. Not a bad way to spend the first chilly week of November.
