Wicked: Part 2 has magically altered its title ahead of next year’s theatrical release.
The follow-up film to last month’s hit movie Wicked will be officially titled Wicked: For Good, with Universal Pictures announcing the new moniker on Monday. The two-part feature adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway smash had been long in the works after the stage version debuted in 2003.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo star in director Jon M. Chu‘s film that hits theaters Nov. 21, 2025. The demand is clearly high for the second movie, with the first one having already surpassed $520 million globally as it heads into the holiday corridor.
Loosely based on author Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, Wicked tells the story of The Wizard of Oz’s characters before Dorothy’s arrival. Grande plays Glinda, while Erivo portrays Elphaba.
More to come.
