Nature is healing: The celebrities are returning to D.C.—for the inauguration, at least.

Due to the pandemic, the festivities will be smaller this year, with nighttime galas replaced by a star-spangled evening show largely held virtually. The pandemic and subsequent smaller showing means, unfortunately, we can’t expect any impromptu shows at Eighteenth Street Lounge. But a few celebrities are still expected to perform live in Washington, D.C. Performers at the Inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden itself include pop singers Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez and country singer Garth Brooks. And on Inauguration Eve, they hit the town.

All three were spotted at the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday. Lady Gaga, who will sing the national anthem, posted a photo from the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol where, just two weeks ago, pro-Trump rioters broke in as part of an attempted insurrection. Wearing all-white, which female lawmakers wore last year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, Gaga appeared solemn with her head bowed and eyes closed.

I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans. A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear. A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is non-violent, a dream that provides safety for our souls,” she wrote on Instagram. And while Gaga didn’t make it out in person, one of her songs was later used Tuesday night by dancing D.C. residents to drive away a small group of Pizzagate conspiracy theorists from Comet Ping Pong.

Back at the Capitol, CNN reporter Kristin Wilson caught up to Garth Brooks, guitar in tow. “He’s very nice,” she tweeted

Jennifer Lopez, who will give a musical performance, took a selfie with National Guard members posted just outside the Capitol.

“What an honor to spend a few moments with these brave men and women. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. I honor you today and everyday,” she wrote on Twitter

Speaking of J.Lo, while she was at the Capitol, her fiance Alex Rodriguez was having a blast in Georgetown.

According to his Instagram story, A-Rod first headed to the Georgetown Sephora to take a selfie with a J.Lo Beauty poster out front, all while wearing his inaugural ceremony badge. Then the former baseball player visited Georgetown University’s campus, where he posted that he loved the dorms and old buildings all around campus.

“Go Hoyas!” he wrote, posing in a suit in front of a statue on campus.

Katy Perry and fiance Orlando Bloom were spotted by D.C. Celebrity on Tuesday night as well. Perry is expected to be part of evening festivities and shared a sneak peek of her mics, including an American flag-bedazzled one and a Statue of Liberty torch.

Meanwhile on Tuesday afternoon, another famous family arrived in D.C.: Singer-songwriter John Legend, model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen, and their children, Miles and Luna (as well as Teigen’s mom). Legend is performing as part of the evening programming hosted by Tom Hanks. The family took photos with a Biden swag bag (J.Lo got one, too) that included a white chocolate model of the White House, chocolate strawberries, and a bedazzled Inauguration Day thermos. They also took photos with a group of National Guard members, who Teigen called “actual fucking heroes,” and gave a sneak peek into a rehearsal in front of the Lincoln Memorial—which Teigen says “was all supposed to be a secret.” Shhh, we didn’t see a thing!

Later, Teigen’s Instagram story featured the family on a late-night ride around the monuments.

“What do you think, mom?” Teigen is heard asking as they drive past the Washington Monument.

“I don’t know. I don’t believe it,” her mom replies, sounding a little skeptical and underwhelmed.

Celebrities! They’re just like us!

Adding Chrissy’s mom to the list of people underwhelmed by the Washington Monument. Anyway good night celebs!!! pic.twitter.com/EDtXk5J1m7
