Manchester City are considering signing Jonny Evans or Caglar Soyuncu to solve their defensive crisis.

The Premier League champions are without Aymeric Laporte until after the new year and midfielder Fernandinho has had to play at centre-back in his absence.

According to Sky Sports News, the Leicester pair are among a number of options being considered.

City wanted to sign Evans from West Brom in 2017 but were rebuffed on a number of occasions.

Evans went on to sign for the Foxes a year later for just £3.5million after City signed Laporte in January 2018.

Pep Guardiola has said in the past that the club will not buy a new centre half in January.

This is despite the City boss wanting to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester before he moved to Manchester United in the summer.

This came after defender Vincent Kompany left to become a player-coach at Anderlecht.
