In an interview this week with NBC News, Russian President Vladimir Putin described former President Donald Trump as an “extraordinary individual” and suggested his nation’s relationship with the U.S. has hit its “lowest point” now because of current President Joe Biden.
“I believe that former U.S. President Trump is an extraordinary individual, talented individual. Otherwise, he would not have become U.S. president. He’s a colorful individual,” the Russian president said.
He added that one aspect of the former president that separates him from the pack is his non-establishment background.
“You may like him or not, but he didn’t come from the U.S. establishment. He had not been part of big-time politics before — and some like it, some don’t like it — but that is a fact,” he said.
It is indeed a fact.
Listen to his remarks below:
He continued by contrasting this non-establishment background with Biden’s deeply rooted establishment bona fides.
“President Biden, of course, is radically different from Trump because President Biden is a career man. He has spent virtually his entire adulthood in politics. Just think of the number of years he spent in the Senate,” Putin said.
The president served in the Senate for 36 years, from 1973 to 2009.
“A different kind of person, and it was my great hope that, yes, there are some advantages, some disadvantages, but there will not be any impulse-based movements on behalf of the sitting U.S. president,” the Russian leader continued.
Some leftists responded to the remarks by accusing Putin of lying:
Manipulative lying is also a talent Putin values. His praise of Trump can’t be taken at face value.

Putin also said that Trump was an extraordinary man. Putin had previously been overheard on tape making fun of Trump and saying all you have to do is compliment him to get what you want. So right away, we know Putin’s interview is BS. 2/2

They may have had a point — though it certainly isn’t a victory for the left.
Trump was significantly tougher on the Russian president than Biden. While the current president has had tougher rhetoric — such as calling Putin a killer — his words haven’t matched his actions.
Last month, the president announced plans to waive sanctions on the corporate entity and CEO of the company overseeing the construction of Nord Stream 2, a Russian pipeline. The CEO is Matthias Warnig, a reported Putin crony.
In response to this announcement, Pulitizer Prize-winning journalist Glenn Greenwald decried the move as “a huge gift to Putin.”
This is genuinely a huge gift to Putin: Biden is waiving sanctions which will effectively allow Germany to buy natural gas from the Russian pipeline.

The move was a slap in the face to America’s ostensible ally, Ukraine.
“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he learned through the press — not any direct heads-up — that President Biden had decided to stop trying to block a Russian pipeline that Ukraine sees as a dire national security threat,” Axios reported last weekend.
In a statement to the outlet, Zelensky said, “This is a weapon, a real weapon … in the hands of the Russian Federation,” he said. “It is not very understandable … that the bullets to this weapon can possibly be provided by such a great country as the United States.”
Instead of lavishing Putin with gifts, Trump had a record of hitting him with endless sanctions, trying to stop the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, withdrawing from arms deals, and blessing Ukraine with Javelin antitank missiles so that they could protect themselves from Russia.
Unlike Biden, however, the former president’s rhetoric toward Putin was very pleasant — and still remains that way.
In a statement issued through his blog on Thursday, Trump fondly reminisced over the time he’d met Putin personally at the 2018 Russia–United States summit.
“As President, I had a great and very productive meeting in Helsinki, Finland, with President Putin of Russia. Despite the belated Fake News portrayal of the meeting, the United States won much, including the respect of President Putin and Russia,” he said.
He continued by complaining about the Russian collusion delusion hoax and then expressing his hope that Biden will be able to handle Putin when he meets with the Russian leader during the ongoing G7 summit.
“Good luck to Biden in dealing with President Putin—don’t fall asleep during the meeting, and please give him my warmest regards!” he said.
The statement predictably triggered accusations that he’s a Putin “stooge” and “puppet.”

Showing once again that Trump was a Putin stooge, and that the inquiry into his links to Vlad was NOT a “hoax”. One must take a moment to think of what The Donald is saying…he trusts Russia (lying propagandists of all time) more than the U.S. (the Country he had led). #treason😒 https://t.co/PmQ0nPkGWH
drumpf WAS & IS the manchurian candidate. He was & is a russian agent. He was & is a traitor to America. It’s that simple. That we haven’t arrested him is an indictment of our “system”.

Putin just called Trump colorful like he was describing a wooden Puppet he had painted,,, Sounds about right?

Missing from these complaints is any recognition of the inexorable truth that talk is cheap and it’s actions that count. And when it comes to actions, Trump isn’t the one who appears to be a puppet of the Russian president …
And I don’t understand how DEMOCRATS can see Biden siding with Putin by lifting Trump sanctions on him so he can build a pipeline to Germany while killing the US pipeline and American jobs yet not see who the real PUTIN PUPPET IS!
