Ibadan Agog For Role Model Table Tennis Challenge Final The indoor sports hall of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (formerly Liberty Stadium) will be full to its capacity, as table tennis enthusiasts would converge to witness the epic finals of the popular Role Model Table Challenge organized by a sports presenter; Babatunde Saheed who works with an Ibadan based radio station, Fresh FM.
The final of the open table tennis tourney that was established to engaged the pin-pongers in Ibadan and its environ would see the two finalists, Wasiu Azeez from Strong and Bold Telecom locking horns with Kehinde Oladele who represents Bodija Elewa zone.
Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho Oosha and Ambassador Romoke Ayinde of Kayrom Lee Gym and Fitness Centre sponsored the event, which has entered its second edition as top dignitaries such as Chief Waheed Ekun, an ex-international, Alh Lateef Sulaimon konkobilo, Alh Kehinde Agbara Elele, Alh Aka Quadri Olatunji, Alh Taofeeq Oyelade Tayo (Tao Onibata) are all expected to grace the final.
The popularity that associated with Table tennis especially among the youths is fast fizzling out according to the organizer, Babatunde Saheed, and it was against this backdrop that he decided to institute the tournament that is fast yielding results.
“Table tennis was more popular than football before when we are growing up, but now reverse is the case, you hardly see table tennis within our communities again as it used to be seen at the nooks and crannies of our communities before. And with this tournament all our table tennis players in the state are better engaged,” the organizer popularly known as Mr. Sports noted.
