The paramount ruler of Ijesaland Oba Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran has expressed delight at the current progress being achieved by the hot Nigerian strike Victor Oshimen who played in the first Oba Aromolaran U-17 Soccer Tournament held in 2014 Ilesa, Osun State.
The Sport loving monarch disclosed this while hosting the officials of the Professional Sports International (PSI) that will be organizing the third edition of the grassroots tournament that was conceptualized
and being sponsored by the Owa Obokun of Ijesa to discover new talents for national Under-17 team.
The Lille and Super Eagles’ striker who has been on the move in the game since he won the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup with the Golden Eaglets played in the maiden edition of Oba Aromolaran U-17 Soccer Tournament
in Ilesa in 2014.
“The exploit of our boys at this category of football was motivated me to be sponsoring U-17 Soccer Tournament which has greatly benefited Nigerian youths as many young lads have secured a breakthrough via
their participation in the age grade competition.
“It was my delight that notable among talents discovered via the this competition is Victor Oshimen that is currently making wave in Europe, he played in the first edition of the tournament with Edo State team
here in Ilesa”, Oba Aromolaran noted.
The monarch however pledged to continue sponsoring the tournament andcbe supporting other ventures that will be beneficial to the Nigerian youths while claiming to produce more soccer stars through Oba Aromolaran U-17 Soccer Tournament.
Meanwhile the coordinator of PSI, Lukman Akande Arisekola that will be subsequently organizing the grassroots event in his reactions has vowed to improve the tournaments by introducing many new innovations into it.
Arisekola however promised to soon announce a date for the much anticipated third edition of the tournament that was last held at Ilesa Technical College in 2016.
