And we’re off—the beginning of red carpet season has officially begun. If you count Zendaya, it has certainly started with a bang. Ladies are bringing their own unique perspectives to this gown business—from eschewing them all together in favor of sparkly pants, to full skirted statements, and slinky alternatives. See who got it right.

Emilia Clarke

The Mother of Dragons may not be rocking her flowing blonde locks anymore, but she’s still making an impact in a plunging navy gown by Valentino. It’s a minimalist’s answer to something sultry—offset with emerald earrings.

Indya Moore

Indya Moore doesn’t shy from showing a little skin on the red carpet, staying on brand in a white Louis Vuitton gown slit up to the hip bones. Gilded shoes and a pendant necklace finish the sleek look.

Jodie Comer

Jodie Comer is the super hero we all need in white Tom Ford. The halter gown shape also has sleeves for a surprisingly sexy, but still covered-up silhouette. A half up ‘do keeps the look young and fun.

Kerry Washington

Speaking of young and fun… Kerry Washington, never one to shy from a red carpet risk, looked prepped to dance the night away in a white button-down and sequin trousers by Alexandre Vaulthier Haute Couture.

Maisie Williams’

Maisie Williams looked every part the London fashion girl in a custom creation by JW Anderson, made in collaboration with her very own boyfriend Reuben Selby. She accessorized her sparkling V-neck gown with crystal heels by Roger Vivier.

Zendaya is all superstar in a green corset gown custom made by Vera Wang, with one-shoulder detail and an ultra-high slit. Draping at the waist makes for a flattering silhouette, while a diamond bracelet accessorizes the look for added high impact.

Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore was just one lady who stepped out in a bold two-tone red and pink gown on tonight’s red carpet. But her Brandon Maxwell was undeniably a hit, with a portrait neckline and body-hugging skirt.

Naomi Watts

Proving that no one can ever go wrong in something classic, Watts was a show-stopper in a black, sweet-heart neckline, belted gown with full skirt by Christian Dior. It’s as simple as it is breathtaking, and her short bob and red lip are all she needs to finish the idea.

Sophie Turner

Vuitton was the choice for many of tonight’s attendees, and Turner always wears Ghesquiere creations especially well. The Game of Thrones beauty is elegant in ultra-light pink satin with a wrap skirt, offset with a diamond choker, also by the French house.

Viola Davis

It may not be red and pink, but Davis also went all in on the two-tone idea in graphic black and white. The velvet and satin duchesse one-shoulder gown by Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition fits like a dream. Layered Forevermark diamonds complete the sophisticated look.
