Lisa may have become a global pop icon thanks to her career in Blackpink, but 2025 is already shaping up to be her personal breakthrough year. She’s already released new singles “Born Again” with Doja Cat and Raye, made her debut on White Lotus Season 3, and is gearing up to release her debut solo album, Alter Ego, on February 28.
The 56-page project draws inspiration from the themes of her album, Alter Ego, focusing on five different characters (Roxi, Kiki, Vixi, Sunni, and Speedi) to represent unique aspects of the 27-year-old’s personality. As stated in the press release, “Alter Ego: The Official Comic” tells a story that “embodies change, courage, and solidarity.”

After Metro Boomin and BoyWithUke, Lisa is the latest artist to work with Zero Zero Entertainment, the new project of former Z2 Comics owner and publisher, CEO Josh Frankel. Under Frankel’s leadership, the company has worked with everyone from Elvis Presley to Blondie, Weird Al Yankovic, and K-pop group NCT 127. Lalisa Comics is named after Lisa’s full name, Lalisa Manobal.
“Working with Lisa represents a whole new level of opportunity and prestige,” Frankel told Variety about the partnership. “She is undeniably one of the biggest stars in the world, and this collaboration is both an incredible honor and a major milestone for us. It’s always inspiring to work with this level of artistry and commitment to excellence.”
Frankel added that Lisa’s “ALTER EGO” story represents a new approach to the traditional musician comic model he’s been following for years in the industry.
“The Zero Zero process is about collaborating with artists to create unique, story-driven merchandise,” he said. “On the comic side, we work closely with the artist and their team to develop the story and translate it into an art script that guides the visual narrative. Once the artwork is complete, the writer comes in to refine the narrative by adding dialogue and ensuring the final product lives up to the artist’s vision. For “ALTER EGO,” the approach was a little different. Since this story was already embedded in the album, our role was to expand and enhance this narrative and turn it into a compelling 56-page comic. Rather than starting from scratch, we focused on deepening the existing themes and turning them into a fully realized visual experience.”
