Elizabeth Hurley and Billy Ray Cyrus are taking their transatlantic romance to the next level. The British actress says the couple are “going to live together” in Los Angeles this winter while she films the second season of the Peacock comedy series “The ‘Burbs.”

Hurley, 61, shared the news on a recent episode of the “Off Air with Jane & Fi” podcast, as reported by Page Six on Tuesday. Here is what she said, and how the couple got here.

A ‘Californian winter’ for a country girl

Hurley told the podcast she is looking forward to a “Californian winter” while she works in L.A. That is a change of pace for an actress who describes herself as a full-time country dweller.

“I live full-time in the country. I only visit London when I have to,” she said, adding that she actually loves winter at home and enjoys “snuggling in front of the fire.”

She also revealed a small, relatable detail about life as a couple: in winter she likes to be asleep “quite early,” because it gets dark by 4 p.m., while Cyrus, 65, “goes to bed extremely early.”

Why Billy Ray loves the English countryside

Cyrus is based in Tennessee, but Hurley says the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer has fallen for rural England. Before they got together, she said, he had only spent brief periods in the UK on tour. He spent most of last summer there and was back on and off this summer, and “he loves it. Absolutely adores it.”

Part of the appeal, Hurley explained, is a break from what she called the “brutal summers” in the U.S. She described them as very hot, very humid and rainy, and said the English air and countryside are “beautiful for him.”

Earlier this year, Hurley told People that the couple split their time between Cyrus’s farm in Tennessee and her country house in England, with brief trips to Nashville and London. She painted a charming picture of their downtime, saying she is usually “wielding power tools in the garden whilst Billy strums his guitar under a tree.”

‘More grown up’ romance as empty nesters

Hurley said the relationship feels “more grown up” and “easier” than some past romances because all of their children are now adults. She recalled dating the late cricketer Shane Warne, whose three children were still young at the time.

“And now, Billy and I are empty nesters,” she said. “All our children are independent and Damian is the youngest of all of them.”

Hurley’s son, Damian, is 24. Cyrus is a father of six, including pop star Miley Cyrus.

A quick timeline of the relationship

  • 2022: The pair first met on the set of the holiday film “Christmas in Paradise.”
  • February 2025: They reconnected.
  • Easter Sunday 2025: They went public with their relationship.
  • October 2026: Page Six reported earlier this month that the couple are engaged, after Hurley was seen wearing a large diamond ring. Cyrus fueled the speculation with a ring emoji on Instagram on October 15.

Neither star has made a formal announcement about wedding plans, so any talk of a date remains speculation for now.

Common ground on the farm

The couple have said before that a shared love of rural life is a big part of what makes them work. Speaking to Page Six in May, Hurley noted that Cyrus’s farm in Tennessee is “very similar” to her farm in Gloucestershire, “so in a way it kind of feels normal.”

The bottom line

From an English farmhouse to a Tennessee farm and now a winter in Los Angeles, Hurley and Cyrus seem happy to follow each other’s schedules. With “The ‘Burbs” keeping her in California for the season, the couple’s next chapter will be written under palm trees, even if both of them will apparently be in bed well before the sun goes down.
