Saturday, November 7, delivered a rivalry win for an unbeaten team, a stunning road result in Columbus and a handful of comebacks that will reshape conversations about the College Football Playoff. Here are the biggest results, based on the Associated Press roundup published by the Los Angeles Times and the ESPN scoreboard.

No. 3 Utah 28, No. 9 BYU 20

The Holy War lived up to its name. Devon Dampier accounted for four touchdowns, throwing two scoring passes to Braden Pegan and running for two more, and finished with 264 yards of offense. Utah’s defense intercepted Bear Bachmeier four times, including two in the end zone in the fourth quarter.

Utah trailed by six at halftime but forced three turnovers and shut out BYU in the second half. The Utes moved to 9-0 (6-0 Big 12) and snapped a three-game losing streak in the series. BYU fell to 7-2 and has now lost two of its last three games.

No. 23 Oregon 41, No. 12 Ohio State 28

This was the upset of the day. Ohio State jumped out to a 14-0 lead late in the first quarter, but Oregon scored on four of its next five drives and never looked back. Dierre Hill Jr. ran for two touchdowns and Dylan Raiola threw for 257 yards.

The loss drops Ohio State to 6-3 and marks its first two-game losing streak since 2011, according to the AP. For a team that opened the season ranked No. 1, its playoff hopes now look slim.

No. 7 Texas 34, No. 18 Missouri 20

Arch Manning threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead pass to Raleek Brown with about five minutes left. Brown added 85 rushing yards and a clinching touchdown after a deflected Missouri pass was intercepted. Texas improved to 7-2 and picked up its fourth win over a top-20 opponent this season.

No. 5 Alabama 31, No. 14 LSU 13

Keelon Russell threw three touchdown passes and Alabama’s defense made four key fourth-down stops. LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt completed 35 of 47 passes for 380 yards, but the Tigers fell to 6-3, and first-year coach Lane Kiffin dropped to 0-6 in his career against Alabama.

More results worth knowing

  • No. 21 South Carolina beat Texas A&M 17-9 behind LaNorris Sellers for its fourth straight win.
  • No. 16 Wake Forest routed Merrimack 77-0, with backup quarterback Steele Pizzella throwing for 432 yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone.
  • No. 17 Houston edged Cincinnati 31-24 on Re’Shaun Sanford II’s 51-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.
  • On Friday night, No. 24 Arizona beat TCU 29-28 on a 37-yard field goal with 39 seconds left after recovering an onside kick.
  • Duke beat NC State 41-3, and Clemson held off Syracuse 18-13.

Off the field: Nebraska makes a change

The AP also reported that Nebraska coach Matt Rhule fired offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen on Saturday, a day after the Cornhuskers lost at Illinois. Nebraska has scored just 54 points combined during a four-game losing streak, and Glenn Thomas will take over play-calling.

What it means for the playoff picture

Utah is the clear winner of the week, staying perfect with a statement win over a ranked rival. Texas and Alabama both kept their playoff hopes alive with road wins over ranked SEC opponents. Ohio State, meanwhile, faces a long climb. With only a few weeks left in the regular season, every remaining game for these teams now carries playoff weight, and next week’s rankings should reflect a shake-up near the top.
